The University of Pittsburgh at Bradford broke ground on the $18 million Engineering & Information Technologies Building in August of 2021. Designed by HED and LPA Partners to enable team-based learning and discovery, the 39,000-sf facility will provide engineering labs and shops, computer labs, large group classrooms, a data center, and offices for faculty and staff. All building functions will open towards a two-story collaborative center to enhance interaction, visibility, and accessibility. This dynamic nexus of academic and social exchange will include a maker space with exposed infrastructure where students can gain hands-on experience with rapid prototyping machines and oscilloscopes. Rycon Construction is the general contractor for the sustainably designed structure, which will leverage internal and external glazing to illuminate a deep building footprint while reducing energy consumption. Completion is expected in late 2022.
