The University of South Florida broke ground in December of 2020 on the $54 million Judy Genshaft Honors College in Tampa. Designed by Morphosis to foster interdisciplinary exchange, the five-story, 85,000-sf structure will offer interwoven facilities including a central atrium, learning lofts, classrooms, labs, study areas, offices, a café, and a music and computer lab. On the ground floor, the collaborative structure will feature a central atrium with adjoining flexible spaces that can be connected to accommodate large events. FleischmanGarcia is the executive architect for the sustainably designed building, which is expected to attain LEED Silver certification. The project team includes construction manager The Beck Group, structural engineer Walter P Moore, civil engineer Campo Engineering, electrical and acoustical engineer Voltair Consulting Engineers, mechanical and plumbing engineer TLC Engineering, code and atrium consultant Simpson Gumpertz & Heger, and sustainability consultant REAL Building Consultants. Completion is expected in late fall of 2022.
