University of Washington and Gonzaga University Plan Health Sciences and Innovation Building

The University of Washington is partnering with Gonzaga University to create the Health Sciences and Innovation Building in Spokane. Supporting the Regional Health Partnership initiative, the $60 million medical education facility will accommodate the physician assistants program and the department of human physiology. Providing leading-edge anatomy labs and interactive learning environments, the collaborative 80,000-sf building will house an innovation center, research labs, offices, study areas, retail amenities, a fitness suite, and space for companies and nonprofit organizations. The public-private project will be developed, owned, and managed by McKinstry, with the universities occupying leased facilities in the four-story structure. Architectural firm CollinsWoerman is collaborating with McKinstry on the design of building, which will feature highly efficient building systems, photovoltaic arrays, and onsite renewable energy generation technologies. The general contractor is Bouten Construction. Groundbreaking is slated for spring of 2020 with completion expected in August of 2022.
