Hewlett Packard (HP) opened the 3D Printing and Digital Manufacturing Center of Excellence in June of 2019 in Barcelona, Spain. Supporting leading-edge research and development in additive manufacturing, the facility provides sophisticated research labs and instrumentation suites as well as a large-scale factory environment for active collaboration with customers and industry partners. Featuring flexible layouts, co-development environments, and HP's latest plastics and metals 3D production systems, the project will enable experts in systems engineering, data intelligence, software, design, and materials science to create the next-generation technologies that will power the fourth industrial revolution. LEED certification will be sought for the facility, which features a highly efficient HVAC system, a 110kW photovoltaic canopy, abundant natural lighting, sustainable construction materials, and a rainwater recycling system.
