The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley (UTRGV) is constructing the $70 million Science Research Building in Edinburg. Supporting STEM programs in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics, the four-story, 115,000-sf project will provide classrooms, teaching labs, faculty and researcher offices, an instrumentation research and teaching core, and research labs for biological and physical science. Additionally, the $54 million Academic Building is being constructed in Brownsville. The three-story, 102,551-sf facility will consist of two structures offering general classrooms, science teaching labs, music instruction and recital rooms, and student collaboration areas.

UTRGV will begin construction in March of 2017 the $36 million Interdisciplinary Engineering and Academic Studies Building in Edinburg. The facility will provide flexible learning spaces including six engineering teaching labs, two computer labs, eight 60-seat classrooms, and offices for faculty and staff. The 53,400-gsf project was designed by Overland Partners Architects and will be built by Vaughn Construction
