Sacred Heart University Breaks Ground on Center of Healthcare Education

Published 9/14/2015

Sacred Heart University broke ground in September of 2015 on the $45 million Center of Healthcare Education in Bridgeport, Conn. Designed by The S/L/A/M Collaborative, the 117,000-sf interdisciplinary facility will provide advanced simulation labs, immersive learning environments, educational spaces, and an interprofessional outpatient clinic to support programs in nursing, physical therapy, occupational therapy, speech and language pathology, and health sciences. The three-story project will provide teaching labs, clinical skills labs, theater-style learning classrooms, study spaces, and a dining hall. The Center of Healthcare Education will create a new home for the college of health professions and the nursing program, whose departments are currently distributed among several facilities across Sacred Heart University’s campus. S/L/A/M provided design, cost estimating, structural engineering, landscape architecture, programming, and planning services.
