Global consumer products manufacturer Unilever will begin construction in September of 2014 on the $108 million Materials Innovation Factory in Liverpool. Created in partnership with the University of Liverpool, the 120,000-sf facility will accommodate 250 investigators engaged in materials chemistry research. Completion is expected in summer of 2016. Unilever is also opening the $11.4 million, 43,000-sf High Throughput Formulation Centre in the Liverpool Science Park. Designed to optimize product design and development processes, the facility will feature robotic automation technologies and advanced data management systems.
