University of Manitoba and Magellan Aerospace Create Advanced Satellite Integration Facility

Published 6/5/2014

The University of Manitoba is partnering with Magellan Aerospace to create the Advanced Satellite Integration Facility. The 6,000-sf ASIF will be located at Magellan's Winnipeg site and will be jointly funded and operated with the University. The project will support the simultaneous assembly, integration, and testing of up to three satellite buses, and will also serve as a training center for satellite engineering and production. Construction of the facility is expected to reach completion in June of 2014 with fit-out and installation of equipment leading to occupancy in mid-2015. Magellan's financial support will also create the Aerospace Research Chair within the Faculty of Engineering at the University of Manitoba and provide ongoing program funding.
