Tempe, Ariz.
Arizona State University opened the $112 million Interdisciplinary Science and Technology Building IV (ISTB 4) in Tempe in September of 2012. The seven-story, 293,000-sf facility provides flexible laboratories for the School of Earth and Space Exploration and the Schools of Engineering and houses the Security and Defense Systems Initiative. Designed by HDR and Ehrlich Architects, the building provides 166 lab modules, 60 faculty offices, an advanced imaging suite, conference rooms, collaboration space, a 238-seat auditorium, and a five-story atrium. The facility was built by Sundt Construction. Construction began on the project in March of 2010. LEED sustainable design certification will be sought for the facility.
