Long Beach Memorial Builds Todd Cancer Institute Pavilion

Published 7/26/2012

Long Beach Memorial began building the $31 million Todd Cancer Institute Pavilion in July of 2012. The facility is being constructed by McCarthy Building Companies and occupancy is expected early in the summer of 2013. The project includes the transformation of 65,000 sf on the second and third floors of an existing four-level administration building into a dedicated cancer treatment center. A two-level, 1,913-sf lobby addition will also be constructed. Accommodating leading-edge cancer care and research, the facility will consolidate cancer programs and support services in a single location. Designed by c|a ARCHITECTS of Long Beach, Calif., the Todd Cancer Pavilion will feature an ambulatory infusion center, a rooftop healing garden, and exam, mammography, and consultation rooms. McCarthy is using Autodesk® Navisworks 2012 and Revit 2012 to create 3D representations of some of the elements in the existing facility for construction coordination. The project team includes structural engineer MHP, civil engineer Pfeiler & Associates, electrical and mechanical engineer Donn C. Gilmore & Associates, and Cummings Curley & Associates as landscape architect.
