The University of Strathclyde will begin construction in mid-2012 on the $138 million Technology and Innovation Centre (TIC) in Glasgow, Scotland. The 269,000-sf building will support collaborative research and development with industry partners for the creation of advanced technologies for healthcare, energy, biotechnology, and manufacturing. The facility will also house the Fraunhofer Centre for Applied Photonics. The project will be the first of its kind in Europe and will become the cornerstone of the International Technology and Renewable Energy Zone, a Scottish hub for global green energy development. Occupancy is expected in 2014.
