University of Nebraska-Lincoln Builds Nanoscience Metrology Facility

Published 9/21/2011

The University of Nebraska–Lincoln is building the Voelte-Keegan Nanoscience Metrology Facility (NMF). The 32,000-sf facility will provide a temperature-stabilized research environment with minimized vibration and electromagnetic fields. The NMF will include a nanofabrication cleanroom, a materials preparation facility, and laboratories for nanofiber characterization, manufacturing metrology, and nanophotonics. The facility will also provide suites for electron microscopy, scanning probe microscopy, X-ray materials characterization, mechanical characterization, and crystallography. A minimum of LEED Silver sustainable design certification will be sought for the project. Construction began on the facility in 2010. Occupancy is expected in February of 2012.
