Bridgewater State University Opens Science and Mathematics Center

Bridgewater State University opened the first phase of the newly expanded and renovated Science and Mathematics Center in September of 2011. Designed by Payette, the five-story, 168,000-sf facility will provide space for the departments of biology, chemistry, earth science, geography, physics, math, and computer science. The project team includes R.G. Vanderweil Engineers, MEP and fire protection; Lim Consultants, structural engineering; Nitsch Consulting, civil engineering; CCR Pyramid, telecommunications and security; GZA GeoEnvironmental, geotechnical engineering; The Green Roundtable, sustainable consulting; Acentech, audio/visual consulting; and Barr & Barr, construction management. Ground was broken on the facility on October 30, 2009. The second phase is slated for completion in 2012. The entire $98.7 million project, including new construction and renovation of existing space, will provide 211,300 sf of research and education space.
