GlobalFoundries Completes Dresden Cleanroom

GlobalFoundries completed construction in July of 2011 on an 110,000-sf wafer manufacturing facility at Fab 1 in Dresden, Germany. The project will enable Fab 1 to operate as a single integrated cleanroom, making the facility one of the the largest and most advanced wafer fabs in Europe.

At Fab 8 in Malta, N.Y., GlobalFoundries has occupied the Admin 1 building and broken ground on the 221,000-gsf Admin 2. The project team includes IDC Architects and LeChase Construction. Completion is expected in August of 2012. LEED Gold sustainable design certification will be sought for facility, which will accommodate 1,500 employees.
