The University of Pennsylvania broke ground in February of 2011 on the $80 million Krishna P. Singh Center for Nanotechnology in Philadelphia. The 78,000-gsf facility will support fundamental and translational research and education with 10,000 sf of cleanroom space, a 6,500-sf characterization suite, and 9,000 sf of general laboratories. The Singh Center was designed by Weiss/Manfredi and the construction manager is Gilbane Building Company. LEED Silver sustainable design certification will be sought for the multidisciplinary project. Occupancy is expected in 2013.
