UCSF Medical Center Builds Mission Bay Hospital

The University of California San Francisco Medical Center initiated construction on an 878,000-sf hospital complex in January of 2011. Located in the Mission Bay development, the project will be built to attain LEED Gold sustainable design certification and will feature advanced building systems and technologies. The first phase of construction comprises a 289-bed hospital housing women’s services, pediatric care, and cancer diagnosis and treatment. The facility was designed by William McDonough + Partners in collaboration with Anshen + Allen. Completion is expected in 2014.
