The Salk Institute opened the Waitt Advanced Biophotonics Center in February of 2011 in La Jolla, Calif. The facility houses life science research labs and a core imaging suite with advanced visualization capabilities, including a Libra 120 PLUS Energy-Filtered Transmission Electron Microscope (EF-TEM), an Olympus FluoView 1000 MPE Coherent Anti-Stokes Raman (CARS) microscope, and a Nikon total internal reflection microscope (TIRFM).
