NOAA Builds Pacific Regional Center Facility in Honolulu

The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration has selected Walsh Construction Company of Chicago to build the final phase of the Pacific Regional Center on Ford Island in Honolulu. The project includes construction of the main facility at the site and is supported by $131.9 million in federal stimulus funding. Existing renovated space will be integrated with the new building to great a 300,000-sf lab and office facility. LEED Gold sustainable design certification will be sought for the project, which will consolidate NOAA's research programs in coastal and marine resources, weather prediction, and climate change.
