The University of California Los Angeles will begin construction in November of 2010 on the $115.6 million Edie and Lew Wasserman Eye Research Center. Housing the Jules Stein Eye Institute and the departments of neurosurgery and urologic oncology of the Geffen School of Medicine, the six-story, 100,000-sf project will provide research laboratories, surgical suites, a conference center, medical training and simulation facilities, a telemedicine center, and patient care. The facility is being designed by Richard Meier & Partners Architects. Occupancy is expected in March of 2014.
