The Working Group on Strengthening the Biosecurity of the United States released a report in January of 2010 that recommends a new system for the handling, storage, and management of select agents used in research. The report proposes a stratified system that would implement more controls for the most hazardous agents and less stringent requirements for agents of lower risk. The report also suggests improved personnel screening and monitoring of researchers and staff, as well as minimum standards for laboratory security.Read the Report of the Working Group on Strengthening the Biosecurity of the United States.
