University of California Funds Research Facility Construction

The University of California is funding construction of research facilities by loaning the State of California $199.8 million, to be paid back over three years at 3.2 percent interest. The state will then allocate the money to the University of California to support construction on voter-approved projects. The funding includes:•    $32.4 million to UC San Francisco for new classrooms and telemedicine facilities•    $35.1 million to UC Davis for the four-story Telemedicine Resource Center•    $64.4 million to UC Santa Cruz for the five-story Biomedical Sciences Facility and $1 million for the Digital Arts Facility•    $19.2 million to UCLA for expanded telemedicine facilities •    $6.2 million to UC Irvine for new biology, engineering, and computer science equipment•    $4.6 million to UC Riverside for equipment in a new science and technology building•    $32.7 million to UC San Diego for construction of a medical training center•    $2.6 million to UC Santa Barbara for education and social sciences equipment.
