PortaFab Creates Modular Cleanroom System

Published 2/23/2009

PortaFab, a manufacturer of pre-engineered modular building systems, introduced the PharmaSystem cleanroom wall and ceiling solution in February of 2009. Providing an aseptic wall and ceiling system for new or renovated facilities, PharmaSystem utilizes a metal stud framework with walls hanging off one of both sides, creating a utility chase with a more economical panel. To create a smooth panel transition across the surface of a wall, panels have formed or cut edges to connect directly to one another and utilize a caulk joint, gel coat, or chemical weld. Individual panels can be removed by striking the joints and removing the panel off the framework. Made of non-combustible, non-porous, and non-outgassing materials, typical construction involves aluminum honeycomb cores and skins that are non-hygroscopic and corrosion resistant. The surfaces withstand repeated cleaning and sanitization with various chemicals and are resistant to sustaining microbial and fungal growth. All wall and ceiling panels utilize a surface applied, smooth unplasticized PVC finish that allows panel faces to be chemically welded to one another. Alternate panel finishes are also available and can be sealed to create a homogeneous finish throughout the cleanroom. For more information, visit PortaFab.
