Published 12/22/2009

Saint Vincent College is building the $39 million Sis and Herman Dupré Science Pavilion in Latrobe, Pa. The 102,000-gsf facility will serve as the home of the Herbert W. Boyer School of Natural Sciences, Mathematics and Computing. Housing laboratories, classrooms, lecture halls, offices, and conference rooms, the Dupré Science Pavilion will enable the college to expand interdisciplinary programs in biotechnology and environmental science. Designed by Maclachlan, Cornelius & Filoni with RFD (Research Facilities Design) as laboratory design consultant, the project includes 45,000-gsf of new construction and 57,000-gsf of renovation. The Science Pavilion will feature an atrium and technology-rich laboratories for chemistry, biology, physics, and life sciences. A $150,000 federal grant was awarded in December of 2009 to provide instrumentation and laboratory equipment for the facility. LEED Gold sustainable design certification will be sought for the project. Construction began on the facility in April of 2009 with completion slated for August of 2010.
