Parkville Comprehensive Cancer Centre Breaks Ground in Australia

Site work began in fall of 2009 on the Parkville Comprehensive Cancer Centre in Melbourne, Victoria. Delivered as a public-private partnership, the $1 billion facility will support collaborative research for the University of Melbourne, the Peter McCallum Cancer Centre, the Ludwig Institute for Cancer Research, Melbourne Health, the Royal Melbourne Hospital, the Walter and Eliza Hall Institute of Medical Research, and the Royal Women’s Hospital. Housing 30,000-sm of research space and 194 inpatient beds, the 93,000-sm Comprehensive Cancer Center will provide medical training, treatment, and translational research facilities. Construction will begin on the project in 2011 with completion slated for 2015.
