University of Oregon Dedicates Nanoscience Lab

Published 2/18/2008

The University of Oregon in Eugene dedicated the $16 million Lorry I. Lokey Science Complex in February of 2008. The underground nanotechnology research laboratory is associated with the Oregon Nanoscience and Microtechnologies Institute, a consortium that includes the University of Oregon, Oregon Health & Science University, Oregon State University, Portland State University, Pacific Northwest National Laboratories, and nanoscience industry partners. The laboratory is housed in the $76 million Integrative Science Complex and houses over 20 ultra-high-precision metrology, probe, lithography, and bio-optics instruments in a building that is two to four times quieter than the vibration standards required by the National Institute of Standards and Technology. The project was designed by SRG Partnership and built by Lease Crutcher Lewis with Colin Gordon Associates as vibration consultant.
