Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh Opens Rangos Research Center

Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh opened the 300,000-sf John G. Rangos Sr. Research Center on October 29, 2008. Located in Pittsburgh's Lawrenceville district, the 10-story building will support biomedical research in heart disease, liver failure, pediatric cancer, diabetes, genomics, immunology, and neuroscience. Comprised of flexible, open laboratories accommodating 70 principal investigators, the facility will promote collaboration and interaction as well as providing shared equipment. Children’s will open a new hospital adjacent to the research building in May of 2009. The total project cost is $625 million. Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh is part of the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center.
