Lonza Builds Pearland Pharmaceutical Manufacturing Facility

Global pharmaceutical manufacturer Lonza began construction in April of 2016 on a 100,000-sf facility in Pearland, Texas. Featuring a fully segregated fill/finish suite, the project will include eight independent cGMP modular cleanrooms with single-use bioreactors for the production of viral gene and virally modified therapeutics. Grade-B cleanrooms will also be constructed to continue the manufacture of EMA-regulated cell therapy products. Operations are expected to begin at the site in mid-2017.

Roswell Park Cancer Institute Completes Clinical Sciences Center

Roswell Park Cancer Institute completed construction in April of 2016 on the $50.5 million Clinical Sciences Center in Buffalo, N.Y. Designed by FXFowle Architects, the 11-story, 142,000-sf project features an expanded chemotherapy clinic, a women's health center, research space, and patient care clinics. The facility also houses academic and administrative offices for physicians, researchers, and staff. The Clinical Sciences Center is located on the Buffalo Niagara Medical Campus and was built by LeChase Construction.

Appalachian State University Plans College of Health Sciences

Appalachian State University will break ground in July of 2016 on a $70 million facility for the Beaver College of Health Sciences in Boone, N.C. Designed by LS3P, the 203,000-sf project will consolidate teaching and research space currently dispersed in seven buildings across campus. The facility will be located adjacent to the Watauga Medical Center on land donated by Appalachian Regional Healthcare System. The construction manager at risk for the project is Rodgers Builders.

Coventry University Constructs Science and Health Building

Coventry University is constructing the $52 million Science and Health Building in the United Kingdom. The five-story multidisciplinary facility will provide classrooms, simulation training suites, science labs, and core research space for the Faculty of Health and Life Sciences. The 121,200-gsf (75,500-nsf) project is being built by BAM Construction. Completion is expected by fall of 2017.

Carolinas HealthCare Plans Levine Cancer Institute Expansion

Carolinas HealthCare System will begin construction in early 2017 on a $125 million expansion of the Levine Cancer Institute in Charlotte, N.C. A seven-story, 260,000-sf outpatient center will be built adjacent to the Institute's existing headquarters to provide additional space for oncology clinics, infusion therapy suites, and specialty pharmacy services.
