Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center Constructs Odessa School of Medicine
Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center is constructing a $22 million academic building for the School of Medicine in Odessa. Located on the Permian Basin campus, the two-story, 51,000-sf facility will provide large and small classrooms, faculty offices, seminar rooms, a conference center, and research space. Designed by FKP Architects, the project will initially provide 4,000 sf of lab space with an additional 2,000 sf to accommodate future growth.
Purdue University Plans STEM Teaching Lab Building
Purdue University is planning to construct a $64 million teaching lab building to support STEM programs in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics. Accommodating undergraduate chemistry and biology courses, the 111,000-gsf facility will promote interdisciplinary collaboration and integration. Construction is expected to begin in September of 2018 with completion in August of 2020.
University of Kansas Constructs Integrated Sciences Building
The University of Kansas is constructing the Integrated Sciences Building in Lawrence. Designed by Perkins+Will to maximize undergraduate engagement with faculty and researchers, the 280,000-sf interdisciplinary facility will provide active learning classrooms, teaching labs, and flexible research labs for programs in chemistry, medicinal chemistry, physics, and molecular biosciences. Utilizing internal and external glass to put science on display, the project will include an auditorium, core imaging labs, cleanroom suites, and collaboration spaces.
Xavier University and TriHealth Break Ground on Health United Building
Xavier University and TriHealth broke ground in December of 2017 on the Health United Building in Cincinnati. Designed by MSA Architects, the four-story, 160,300-sf project will include a 104,400-sf fitness and recreation center with a four-lane pool, three exercise studios, three basketball courts, a gym, and a café.
University of Washington Builds Gates Center for Computer Science & Engineering
The University of Washington is constructing the $110 million Gates Center for Computer Science & Engineering in Seattle. Designed by LMN Architects to foster interaction and collaboration, the 135,000-sf facility will feature a 3,000-sf robotics lab, a 250-seat auditorium, a maker space, an undergraduate commons, and a wet lab. The building will also house capstone project rooms, teaching labs, classrooms, faculty offices, and a flexible event hall.
