Cancer Therapy and Research Center Completes Facility

The Cancer Therapy and Research Center has completed a 20,000-sf expansion of its Institute for Drug Development. Consolidating basic and translational research labs, the facility will focus on developing new cancer treatment therapies. The expansion is funded by a $35 million capital campaign that will also endow the IDD senior scientific chairs.

George Mason University Develops Prince William Campus

George Mason University is planning several additions by 2007 to its 124-acre Prince William campus located in the Innovation @ Prince William Technology Park in Manassas, Va. Focussing on academic research in computer and information technology, plans include a new research/classroom facility as well as additional research space via industry partnerships. An arts center will be built as a joint venture of GMU, Prince William County and the City of Manassas.

U.S. Dataport Builds 188-Acre Campus in Virginia

U.S. Dataport has invested $1.4 billion in a 188-acre Virginia campus co-developed by the Peterson Companies. Ground is being broken on the facility in summer of 2001 with the facility due to open in spring of 2002. As the nation's largest multi-data center facility, the campus will accelerate development of new Internet data networking technologies.

AOL Develops Gainesville Campus

AOL is investing $555 million in a new campus in Gainesville, Va. Ground was broken on the 37-acre Technology Center IV in November of 2000, the day after the investment was announced. The campus is expected to be fully operational by October of 2001.

Astrolink Locates in Manassas

Astrolink will locate its new $205 million network operations center in the Prince William County-owned Innovation office park in Manassas, Va. The Bethesda-based wireless broadband company is also building a global telecommunications satellite network for broadband and Internet services.
