North Carolina State University Plans Bioprocessing Training Facility
North Carolina State University is planning a $35-million bioprocessing training facility on its Centennial Campus. The biotechnology manufacturing facility is part of a work-force training initiative aimed to develop the state's bioprocessing industry. Additionally, UNC Hospitals is planning to build a $140-million cancer tower.
Wyeth Vaccines Builds Sanford Facility
Wyeth Vaccines is building a $200-million, 150,000-sf facility in Sanford, N.C. Designed by Flad & Associates, the project is slated for completion in December of 2003. Contractor Fluor Corp. is joined on the project team by engineering firms CRB Consulting Engineers, McKim & Creed and Tai & Associates.
International Monetary Fund Develops Washington Facilities
The International Monetary Fund (IMF) has awarded Eighth Day Design of Arlington, Va. a three-year contract for design consultant services for its headquarters and all other leased space in Washington, D.C. Eighth Day will provide interior design, construction administration, and architectural and engineering services for programming design of tenant build-out projects and interior renovations. Eighth Day has provided IMF with design and architectural services for the past three years.
Cedra Clinical Research Relocates in North Austin
Raleigh, N.C.-based Cedra Clinical Research, a firm engaged in asthma and allergy studies, will soon open its new 25,000-sf facility in Far North Austin's Reunion Park. Cedra is relocating from its current Northeast Austin location.
Valero Expands San Antonio Headquarters
Valero Energy Corp. is expanding its San Antonio campus located on the 148-acre former Ultramar Diamond Shamrock campus. Designed by architectural firm Rehler Vaughn & Koone, the 450,000-sf project will include the addition of two new wings to Valero's existing 225,000-sf facility, which will also be upgraded. The cafeteria and 8,000-sf fitness center will be expanded and improved, and 2,000 parking spaces will be added. Slated for completion in early fall of 2003, the addition will reach full occupancy in spring 2004.
