Spinal Concepts Doubles Austin Headquarters

Medical device and spine implant company Spinal Concepts is finishing out 24,000 sf of space subleased from Sun Microsystems that will double the size of its existing Austin headquarters. Located in North Austin's Parmer Lane Business Park, the facility will provide space for expanded sales operations and product inventory. The project is slated for completion in November.

Nanomix Develops Emeryville Lab

Nanomix, a nanotechnology company engaged in developing components for electronics, sensor applications and energy storage, has signed a 10-year lease for 13,000-sf in Emeryville. The facility, located in Wareham Development's 30,000-sf EmeryStation North, will be the first tenancy in the building's second stage of lab build-outs. Approximately half of the space will be used as laboratory, with the remaining as office space.

Union General Hospital Opens Cancer Center

Union General Hospital in Blairsville, Ga., has opened the $1.7-million Cancer Treatment Center. The 10,000-sf center will provide both physician education and patient therapy. Stegenga + Partners of Atlanta designed the facility, which is owned by North Georgia Radiation Partners LLC.

DOD Builds Tyndall Air Force Base Hangar

The Department of Defense has awarded Bates Engineers/Contractors Inc. the $8.7-million contract to build a four-bay, 55,000-sf maintenance hangar at Tyndall Air Force Base in Florida. The project will include a squadron operations center.

DOD Plans FBI Hazardous Devices Training Facility

The Department of Defense has selected the Waynesboro office of GSC Construction Inc. to construct a $21-million hazardous training facility for the FBI. The facility will be located at the Redstone Arsenal in Alabama.
