D.C. Housing Authority Constructs Youth Services Center
The D.C. Housing Authority has awarded Hensel-Phelps Construction the design-build contract to construct the Youth Services Center in Washington. The 120,000-sf detention facility will be constructed with HOK as lead designer. The project is slated for completion in May 2004.
NT Techno Creates Oxford Manufacturing Plant
NT Techno USA, a Japanese auto parts manufacturer, is planning to construct a 60,000-sf distribution facility in Oxford, N.C. The facility will be sited on 26-acres under contract for purchase and will employ 50 workers.
Antigenics Relocates Labs and Offices to Lexington
Newy York-based Antigenics will relocate in summer 2003 to 160,000 sf of office, R&D and lab space at Three Forbes Road in Lexington, Mass. The facility is part of a four-building, 315,000-sf campus owned by Needham real estate developer Bulfinch Cos. Inc.
A.C. Moore Arts & Crafts Plans Headquarters and Distribution Center
A.C. Moore Arts and Crafts is planning to build a 700,000-sf headquarters and distribution facility in Winslow Township, Pa. The building will consolidate operations from the retailer's 250,000-sf former headquarters in the Blackwood area of Gloucester Township and 300,000 sf in Barrington. The facility will include 30,000- f of office space.
Altana AG Opens Waltham Research Facility
Altana AG, a Konstanz, Germany-based drug maker, opened its 25,000-sf Waltham, Mass., research offices in late January 2003. Part of a collaboration with Munich-based GPC Biotech, Altana has committed $120 million to develop its U.S. Genomics Research Institute in subleased space in GPC's 85,000-sf Waltham facility.
