International Museum of Women Plans San Francisco Location

The International Museum of Women is planning to build a $100-million facility on a 120,000-sf site at historic Pier 26 in San Francisco. Pending the necessary approvals, construction could begin in 2006 with completion expected in 2008. The museum would be the first in the world devoted solely to the culture and history of women.

Virtua West Jersey Hospital Completes Stretch Center Project

Virtua West Jersey Hospital has completed the $230,000 expansion and renovation of its Stretch Center for Musculoskeletal Treatment in Marlton, N.J. The project includes a 32-bed unit designed to care for the special needs of orthopedic and neurosurgical patients.

Jacksonville Federal Building Modernization in Progress

The Charles E. Bennett Federal Building in Jacksonville is undergoing a $24-million modernization. Housing the Internal Revenue Service, Department of Labor and Housing, and Urban Development offices, the 11-story, 298,000-sf facility is slated for completion by July 2004. The Jacksonville office of Skanska USA Building is general contractor for the project.

Memorial Herman City Hospital Opens Technical Education Center

Memorial Hermann City Hospital in Houston opened the 18,000-sf Technical Education Center on March 28. The facility centralizes training programs that were previously sited at other hospital system locations. Housing three classrooms accommodating 50 students each, laboratories for nursing, surgical technology and radiology, and faculty offices, the center provides a simulated hospital setting for hands-on training. The surgical lab contains two mock operating rooms with surgical beds, scrub sink, and overhead lights.
