Maxim Purchases San Antonio Semiconductor Fabrication Facility
Maxim Integrated Products has purchased a San Antonio warehouse formerly occupied by Phillips Semiconductors for $40 million. The 330,000-sf facility is sited on a 168-acre campus and features a submicron 8-inch wafer fab able to produce eight million components annually. Sunnyvale, Calif.-based Maxim expects to resume production of silicon wafers in the new facility by year-end 2004.
CDC Leases DeKalb County Facilities
The General Services Administration has leased 97,785-sf for the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) in DeKalb County, Ga. The CDC will house its epidemiology program and two Agency for Toxic Substances and Disease Registry divisions in the Century Center facility.
Temple University Breaks Ground on Student Housing
Temple University has broken ground on University Village, a $30-million student apartment complex in Philadelphia. The three-building complex will house 750 students in 221 apartments. Titan Investments of Denver is constructing the facilities, which are being financed with private funds.
Phillips Collection Breaks Ground on Museum Expansion
Modern art museum The Phillips Collection recently broke ground on a $54-million expansion of its Washington, D.C. building. The addition will include an education center, library, auditorium, a café, and expanded exhibition space.
Cell Signaling Technology Renovates Danvers Inn for New Headquarters
Cell Signaling Technology, based in Beverly, Mass., will renovate the 125-room Kings Grant Inn in Danvers, Mass., as its new headquarters facility. Cell Signaling is a biotechnology company that develops antibodies for cancer research.
