Andrx Corp. Renovates Former Bristol-Myers Facility

Andrx Corp. has awarded O’Neal Inc. of Greenville, S.C., the contract to renovate the first 70,000 sf of a 480,000-sf Morrisville, N.C., manufacturing facility that Andrx acquired from Bristol-Myers Squibb in 2003. The $23-million first phase will create laboratory, warehouse, packaging, and administrative space. Slated for occupancy in early 2005, the plant will employ 400 workers when it reaches full operational status, nearly doubling Andrx’s manufacturing capacity.

Cytec Moves Headquarters to Marlborough

Cytec Corp, a developer and manufacturer of women’s medical diagnostic products, is relocating its headquarters from 100,000 sf in Boxborough to 216,000 sf in the former 3Com campus in Marlborough. Construction and improvements to the property will begin in summer of 2004 with occupancy slated for early 2005.

Bishop State Community College Plans Technology Center

Bishop State Community College is planning a $10-million business and technology center on its Mobile, Ala., campus. Housing the college’s business, economics, adult education, and economic development divisions, the 50,000-sf facility will feature classrooms, 11 computer labs, videoconferencing capabilities, a satellite downlink, an amphitheater, a wireless technology equipped auditorium, a bell tower, and a three-deck parking garage. The project team is comprised of Mobile, Ala.-based firms Volkert & Associates as architect and Rod Cooke Construction as general contractor.

Greater Baltimore Medical Center Plans Wound Care Center Expansion

Greater Baltimore Medical Center is planning a $1.2 million expansion of its specialized wound care center in Baltimore, Md., the largest of its kind in the country. The 10,000-sf project will unite the two separate facilities that make up the wound care center, locating the hyperbaric chambers adjacent to the center. The hospital is also engaged in the construction of a new designated pediatric emergency center and the expansion of its existing emergency department by 15,000 sf.
