Uniontown Hospital Expands Pittsburgh Facility

Uniontown Hospital is engaged in a $59 million expansion and renovation of its Pittsburgh facility. A new patient tower will provide 56 private rooms. An expansion of the emergency department will enable the hospital’s main entrance to be realigned and outpatient services to be consolidated. The four-story patient tower will open in April of 2009.

Texas A&M University Dedicates Health Science Campus

Texas A&M University dedicated its new health science campus in Round Rock in November of 2008. The first 130,000-sf facility will open in fall of 2009. The building will house space for clinical instruction and a simulation center for medical skills training.

Kimberly-Clark Introduces New MERV 13 Filter Media for LEED Certified Buildings

Kimberly-Clark Filtration has introduced a new filtration media that delivers MERV 13 performance for LEED Certified buildings. The media was developed in response to the U.S. Green Building Council’s standards for ASHRAE 52.2, MERV 13 filtration performance in LEED new construction and major renovation projects. The new media, Intrepid 513H, can be used in 2-inch and 4-inch pleated filters that are suited for virtually any commercial HVAC system.

Idexx Labs Completes Westbrook Expansion

Idexx Laboratories completed construction of a 200,000-sf office and manufacturing building in November of 2008. The project represents a major expansion of Idexx’s campus in Westbrook, Maine, which was acquired in 2006. Additionally, a $24 million renovation of existing buildings at the site began in fall of 2008 and is slated for completion in 2010. Idexx is a maker of animal health devices, tests, software, and diagnostic kits.

Marine Biological Laboratory Renovates Regenerative Medicine Center

The Marine Biological Laboratory will begin construction in March of 2009 on a $25 million renovation of the three-story Loeb Laboratory in Woods Hole, Mass. Designed by Tsoi/Kobus & Associates, the project will create research space for regenerative biology and medicine. The general contractor is Shawmut Construction. Completion is slated for June of 2010.
