ConAgra Builds $210M Processing Facility

ConAgra Foods Lamb Weston will build a $210 million sweet potato processing facility near Delhi, La. The first $156 million phase of construction is slated for completion in late 2010, with the second phase slated for completion in early 2014. The LEED certified facility will support collaborative research with the Louisiana State University AgCenter Sweet Potato Research Station.

USAMRIID's BSL-2 Lab Receives Accreditation

The U.S. Army Medical Research Institute of Infectious Diseases (USAMRIID) received accreditation from the College of American Pathologists for its Fort Detrick BSL-2 laboratory in August of 2009. The facility supports research on select agents and pathogens.

Construction Continues on University of Oklahoma Health Center

The University of Oklahoma Health Center is under construction in Oklahoma City. Five projects totaling $534 million are under way on the 325-acre campus. New construction includes the OU Children’s Physician Building and the Cancer Institute. Additions are being built to the existing Oklahoma Blood Institute, the Dean A. McGee Eye Institute, and the Oklahoma Medical Research Foundation facilities.

Yongye Expands R&D Center

Yongye International, a maker of plant and animal nutrient products, has completed an expansion of its R&D center in Hohhot, Inner Mongolia, China. The project included construction of six greenhouses totaling 6,000-sm and creation of an open testing field. The expansion will support development of crop nutrients based on fulvic acid.

University of Teesside Constructs Centuria South Building

The University of Teesside is planning to construct the £11m Centuria South Building in Teesside in the United Kingdom. Designed by CPMG Architects, the 4,200-sm facility will be built by contractor Morgan Ashurst with Shepherd Engineering Services as mechanical and electrical engineer. The four-story building will house instructional facilities for dentistry and sports therapy and will include laboratories, therapy suites, classrooms, and academic offices. Completion is expected in April of 2010.
