Utah State University is constructing a new facility for the College of Veterinary Medicine to advance animal health, biomedical sciences, and public health. The 106,000-sf Veterinary Medical Education Building will accommodate growing programs and drive groundbreaking research, providing comprehensive training for the professionals needed to support Utah’s agricultural sector. Representing an investment of approximately $77 million, the state-funded structure will offer an additional 4,055 sf of lab space between two teaching labs. An anatomy lab illuminated by natural light will be complemented by a wet lab with the latest instructional technologies for courses in bacteriology, parasitology, and clinical pathology. The development will also include a surgery suite, 10 mock exam rooms, classrooms, and offices. Ample study areas and a student forum will promote resiliency and wellbeing.

VCBO Architecture’s design addresses unique programmatic challenges to foster a healthy environment for animal patients. Visual, odor, and noise separation between species will be achieved by utilizing circadian-supportive lighting, high-performance acoustic mitigation, intelligent and humane pathogen controls, and dedicated air ventilation systems.

Jacobson Construction is the general contractor and BDA Architecture is the animal care design consultant. Ground was broken in May of 2024 and occupancy is expected in summer of 2026.
