Piedmont Virginia Community College is constructing the $28 million Woodrow W. Bolick Advanced Technology + Student Success Center in Charlottesville. Designed by VMDO, the 46,537-sf facility will feature state-of-the-art labs and learning venues for programs in advanced manufacturing, robotics, forensics, and cybersecurity. This vibrant hub for experiential education will allow students to engage in hands-on training as they work with equipment used by regional employers such as Northrop Grumman, Lighthouse Instruments, and the National Radio Astronomy Observatory. A multipurpose event space will accommodate a range of academic and social activities. On the top floor, a consolidated student services pavilion will house admissions, advising, and career guidance offices, as well as a veterans resource hub, a café, a collaborative commons, and space for clubs and organizations.

Tiger Solar is installing over 1,000 photovoltaic panels on the roof, windows, and carport canopy, which are supported by a battery backup for continued operations in adverse conditions. The net-zero energy structure is being built by Mathers and CK Bosworth with occupancy expected in fall of 2024.
