BELIMO's North American Headquarters Attains LEED Gold

BELIMO Americas has attained LEED Gold sustainable design certification for its North American Headquarters in Danbury, Conn. Designed by The S/L/A/M Collaborative, the 195,000-sf facility comprises 129,000 sf of logistics and manufacturing space, 15,000 sf of testing labs, and 51,000 sf of office space. BELIMO is a Switzerland-based company engaged in the development, production, and marketing of actuators, valves, and sensor solutions for controlling heating, ventilation, and air-conditioning systems.  

The new headquarters was designed with future expansion in mind, and features an HVAC installation allowing visitors to see BELIMO products in action. The project rated 62 points in the LEED Gold category and rated 19 out of 19 points in the energy performance optimization model, projecting 48 percent in energy savings over the baseline. The facility also incorporates many of BELIMO’s energy-saving products, such as actuators and energy valves, which utilize system operation data to improve performance and optimize energy efficiency. The office block, which contains the main building entrance, is located on the southeast corner to benefit from a passive solar orientation, and the glass curtainwall incorporates horizontal and vertical shading devices to control heat gain. 

The S/L/A/M Collaborative provided architectural design, interior design, and structural engineering services. The MEP engineer for the project was Consulting Engineering Services and Milone & MacBroom served as civil engineer and landscape architect. The construction manager for the facility was A/Z Corporation.
