Tucson, Ariz.
Banner-University Medical Center is planning to begin construction in early 2016 on a $400 million inpatient tower in Tucson. Designed by Shepley Bulfinch and GLHN Architects and Engineers, the 11-story, 689,000-sf facility will initially provide 240 private patient rooms, with two floors of shell space to accommodate 96 additional beds as needed. The project will also include 22 operating rooms, advanced imaging suites, and public areas. The tower will be built by a partnership of Sundt Construction and DPR Construction. Occupancy is expected in 2019. Two floors in the existing Diamond Children’s Medical Center will also be renovated, and the existing hospital building will be repurposed as administrative space.
