Shriners Hospitals for Children Builds Montreal Facility

Shriners Hospitals for Children has selected SNC-Lavalin to construct and commission its $127 million replacement facility in Montreal. Construction will begin in April of 2013 with completion expected in fall of 2015. Located on the Glen campus of the McGill University Health Centre, the eight-story, 220,660-sf facility will provide 24,756 sf of research space, 22 private inpatient rooms, ambulatory care, a basic research and clinical investigation suite, four operating rooms, and a $400,000 surgical skills training lab. The project was designed by André Ibghy Architects. The building will be connected to the existing Montreal Children's Hospital to facilitate access to shared services. SNC-Lavalin also provided structural engineering, civil engineering, and pre-construction services for the project.
