Torrance Memorial Medical Center is building a $300 million replacement tower in Torrance, Calif. Construction began on the facility in February of 2010 with completion expected in November of 2014. The project team includes HMC Architects and McCarthy Building Companies. Comprising seven stories and a basement, the 398,350-sf patient tower will provide 256 beds. LEED Silver sustainable design certification will be sought for the project, which will be delivered using BIM (Building Information Modeling) technology including NavisWorks 3-D modeling for clash detection and coordination.
