Baptist Health South Florida opened the $210 million West Kendall Baptist Hospital in Miami in April of 2011. The four-story, 282,000-sf building includes 133 beds, an outpatient diagnostic center, and a neonatal ICU. West Kendall Baptist Hospital was designed as an Evidence-Based Medicine (EBM) facility and will be the teaching hospital for Florida International University's medical program. The sustainably designed facility is Category 5 Hurricane resistant and includes a gym that will feed power back into the grid. Construction began on the facility in early 2009.
