St. Francis Hospital and Medical Center Opens O'Connell Tower

St. Francis Hospital and Medical Center dedicated the $184 million John T. O’Connell Tower in February of 2011 in Hartford, Conn. Ground was broken on the 10-story, 318,000-sf project in early 2008. The tower features an expanded emergency department with 70 treatment areas, 72 private inpatient rooms, 19 operating rooms, six dedicated orthopedic operating rooms, and 63 orthopedic beds for the Connecticut Joint Replacement Institute. The facility includes a 60-seat auditorium and two hybrid operating rooms with integrated imaging and communication technology. The O’Connell Tower was designed by TRO Jung Brannen of Farmington, CT, and built by Turner Construction.
