Mubadala Healthcare announced the structural completion of Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi in November of 2011. This milestone follows the appointment of the main contractor, Sixco-Samsung Joint Venture, by development manager Aldar Properties PJSC in March of 2010. The next phase of construction will see the transition of the 2.2 million-sf hospital through various MEP installations and a multifaceted façade system, to deliver a world-class medical facility in the second quarter of 2013.
Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi will be an extension of the Cleveland Clinic model of care for the region. The 364-bed multi-specialty facility will be organized into the five institutes of Digestive Disease; Eye; Heart & Vascular; Neurology; and Respiratory and Critical Care, to offer an advanced range of tertiary/quaternary medical services. Like its counterpart in the United States, it will be a physician-led medical facility served by North American board certified (or equivalent) medical professionals. Mubadala appointed Aldar as development manager in 2007 to oversee the design, construction and commissioning of the hospital, which is scheduled for a full-service opening to patients in fall of 2013.
