Miami Valley Hospital Opens Dayton Heart Tower

Published 1/26/2011

Miami Valley Hospital celebrated the opening of its 484,000-sf cardiac care tower in January of 2011. Located in Dayton, Ohio, the $150 million Southeast Addition was designed by NBBJ with Skanska USA Building and Shook Construction as joint construction manager. Ground was broken on the project in May of 2008. The 11-story tower features 178 private patient rooms, surgical suites, cardiac catheterization labs, and imaging. Prefabricated construction elements were used for the mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) systems installation and the corridors in each of the tower’s three wings. LEED Silver sustainable design certification will be sought for the project.
