The University of Iowa has selected Pelli Clarke Pelli Architects to design a new performing arts center in Iowa City. The new Hancher Auditorium will replace a facility damaged in a 2008 flood. Construction will begin on the 144,770-gsf building in spring of 2012. The sustainably designed facility will include a proscenium theater and spaces for teaching and rehearsals.
