UC Davis Attains LEED Platinum for Teaching Winery

The University of California Davis was awarded LEED Platinum sustainable design certification for its $20 million winery, brewery, and food-processing facility in December of 2010. Located within the Robert Mondavi Institute for Wine and Food Science, the 34,000-sf complex provides teaching and research space for the Department of Food Science and Technology and the Department of Viticulture and Enology. Sustainable design elements include advanced rainwater harvesting and carbon dioxide capture systems for wine fermentations. The project team for the facility includes Flad Architects, KPW Structural Engineers, Creegan + D’Angelo Engineers, Frank M. Booth, Red Top Electric, BNB Norcal, and The HLA Group.
