Published 12/6/2010

Marine Corps Base Camp Pendleton broke ground in December of 2010 on a $394 million replacement hospital. The 500,000-sf facility is being built by a joint venture of Clark Construction and McCarthy Building Companies. Completion is expected in January of 2014. The project is supported by funding from the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009. The four-story hospital will provide primary care, inpatient facilities, ancillary departments, emergency care, specialty clinics, and support. LEED Gold sustainable design certification will be sought for the facility. The project was designed by HDR of San Diego and HKS Architects of Los Angeles.
